Everything about working with Sam and Origin Film was fantastic. The planning and execution were seamless, and the finished product was visually stunning. Sam took our ideas and successfully transformed them into a film that captured the spirit of the El Dorado property.

what we do.

Sam Perches Films is a Tokyo based creative agency and video production company operating throughout Japan and internationally. We are a small but creative team of professionals dedicated to producing the highest quality content for our clients. Our goal is to be the feet on the ground for overseas clients and television networks wanting to produce the best content possible while saving costs. We’ve been trusted by many networks and companies and individuals and have cultivated many professional relationships.

Filmmaking is an extremely powerful tool, regardless of the platform, but it shouldn’t be an elite service. I have worked with very high end companies and individuals, and I’ve worked with start ups and non-profits. The process and the enthusiasm is the same. 20+ years ago filmmaking was a service only big companies had the budgets for and platforms were very limited. Technology has progressed to the point where every business should have a moving visual representation of their brand. Whether I’m working on a film promoting a global brand or filming my local farmer, they are treated equally and the same enthusiasm and passion goes into every frame.

Below are some details a potential client may wish to know. The camera is by no means a guarantee of good filmmaking, it is simply an extension of the filmmaker in the same way a paintbrush is an extension of a painter. The most important aspect of filmmaking is always going to be creativity, knowledge of our craft, fundamental storytelling ability, understanding visual language, a creative eye behind the camera and above all things in this world of short attention spans… keeping an audience engaged. Having said that, we are self sufficient when it comes to gear, whether the project calls for high-end cinematic cameras, mirrorless, tiny action cams, or drones. It’s safe to say we have you covered. But our philosophy is that a great camera or number of K’s doesn’t make the film, but rather the individual behind it. Story and creativity always prevail.

However, with that said, certain technical requirements are necessary on different productions and in broadcasting, and we are fully equipped.

I have worked with Sam Perches and Origin Film since 2007 and he is a consummate professional cinematographer whose combination of hard work, artistic vision and video/photographic techniques places him among some of the most accomplished electronic story tellers. Sam’s attention to detail combined with superb listening skills ensures that he delivers the customer’s vision, that “something special”, each and every time. I continue to work with Sam and highly recommend him to anyone possibly benefiting from his craft.
